Job Description

About the Role
We are looking for an Underground Mine Foreman to work on an 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth. You will be responsible for ensuring mining contractor and other contractors on site are complying to FML policies, procedures and standards and relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) Legislation in performing work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise (statutory) and coordinate non-mining contractors to support mine infrastructure and project activities associated with underground mining operations.
  • Ensure mining contractor, other contractors and FML personnel working on site comply with FML safety policies, procedures, standards and relevant WHS legislation.
  • Provide input into the development of mine designs, weekly and monthly schedules ensuring they are practical, and they enable safe, efficient and repeatable production performance.
  • Monitor and ensure the work being completed by the mining contractor and others is to agreed quality and standards.
  • Monitor development and long hole stopping performance – drill & blast designs, drilling accuracy, overbreak, underbreak, productivity of stopping activities (drilling, bogging and backfilling) to ensure optimal performance and maximised mining recovery of the ore resource.
  • Identify issues and implement improvements on design, processes, and execution.
  • Manage Risk and grow proactive Safety culture through the implementation of positive safety lead indicators which include Critical Control Verifications (CCVs), Field Interactions, workplace inspections, hazard identification and elimination.
  • Manage the inventory of major consumables and services FML provides to the contractors such as Explosives, Mine Water, Portable Water etc.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated to capture learnings and improve on the effectiveness of controls put in place to manage risk.

About You

  • Minimum of 8 years Underground mining relevant work experience preferably in gold.
  • WA Underground Supervisors Certificate (compliant to new WHS legislation).
  • Current WA Dangerous Goods Security Card.
  • Experience in managing mining and non-mining contractors. Underground Shift boss/Foreman experience preferrable.  
  • Experience in working collaboratively with multi-functions both operational and technical.
