Job Description
About the role:
We are currently looking for a Senior Environment Advisor to join the team on site working on an 8/6 roster. You will be responsible for leading the environmental team site activities and ensure all environmental site monitoring and compliance requirements, to ensure that the data is available to support reporting requirements. This role looks after external contractors on site relating to environmental support, and records and tracks exploration rehabilitation activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Act as the go-to advisor in relation to site staff queries around environmental approval requirements, and assist the Projects Team on environmental matters during planning, operations and closure.
Identify Site Approval requirements and work with Environment Manager to ensure relevant approvals are obtained.
Ensure all environmental and planning approvals required are current and compliant to ensure Focus is not in breach of any regulatory requirements.
Lead negotiation and communication with regulatory bodies during the approval process.
Assist with Stakeholder Engagement.
Drive best practice on site with regards to environmental management.
Ensure Mine Closure Plans are kept up to date and lead the revision process, including management of progressive rehabilitation planning.
Manage on-site monitoring programmes.
Ensuring the site is compliant with all applicable environmental legislation, as well as all related approvals, permits and licences.
Management of external consultants.
Development and coordination of the acquisition of baseline data to support applications for approvals or compliance reports.
Management of the environmental risk register based on conditions of approval and closure plans.
Oversee and facilitate the reporting and investigation of environmental incidents, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed of investigation outcomes.
Manage the companies environmental database system.
Oversee and manage Weed Management on site.
Deliver environmental training and awareness programs.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science / Management or related field.
Experience in the Mining and Exploration fields.
Experience obtaining environmental approvals under WA State Regulatory and Commonwealth systems.
Manual ‘c’ class licence.
Must be proactive and be able to recognise problems and seek and implement solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and can consistently demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of relevant Australian Environmental legal and other requirements (Federal and state).
