Job Description

About the role:

We are looking for a Superintendent: Technical Support to join the team on site working on an 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth. You will be responsible for ensuring that mine development, dewatering, drill and blast and production mining and haulage activities are executed within the context of short, medium and long term mine plans, in order to achieve the goals and targets as set within those plans and the mining budget.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Ensure all mining operations are conducted safely, and work practices are adapted to suit the current mining environment, in order to mitigate risk to personnel and equipment.
  • Develop and deliver short term plans, dewatering plans, drill and blast plans and weekly mining plans which are all validated as capable of execution and based on signed off operational, geological and geotechnical input.
  • Where deviation to the weekly plan occurs, define and recommend the actions required to return to plan.
  • Conduct reconciliations of daily shift plans against daily performance of drill & blast, load & haul and haulage to ensure that continuous improvement feedback is maintained for all technical inputs.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly production is reported is completed.
  • Ensure the void management plans, markups and all relevant procedures are followed during any mining activities within the void areas.
  • Monitor and assess wall stability in all active pits and update the geotechnical action plans accordingly.
  • Timely identification and communication of all mining development issues and risks within the operational short to medium term planning horizon.
  • Initiate ground disturbance approvals based on planning requirements for pits, dumps, roads and rehabilitation.
  • Undertake productivity and equipment utilisation improvement studies.
  • Deliver plans and schedules to support strategic operating scenarios as required.
  • Ensure personal compliance with company, legislative and statutory obligations regarding safety and environmental regulations.
  • Development of shift operating plans, providing daily instruction for the mining, dewatering, drill & blast, maintenance, and haulage team members and contractors, which follow the context of mine stockpile and processing plans.
  • Ensure project planning, control and management is conducted effectively, including waste management optimisation.
  • Drill & blast pattern design and schedule, including hole layouts, charging information and post-blast analysis.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, or related field experience.
  • Manual Drivers Licence
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in mining engineering, or demonstrable relevant alternate experience, with significant exposure to gold mining.
  • At least 2 years open-cut mining experience, with exposure to technical services team, duties and responsibilities.
  • Dewatering experience and forward planning in complex mining operations.
  • Exposure to technical challenging operations, e.g. variable ore bodies and geotechnical ground conditions.
  • Proven ability to meet mining targets, whilst focusing on safety standards, operational efficiencies, productivity and cost effectiveness.
